Help Time. We are going to Hollywood!

Hi there. So I am going to try and submit my book to Hollywood. I figure why not give it a try. Most think writing a book is impossible, checked that one off. So will try with a movie script. Plus, I have the other books in the series and the sub-plot ideas, so if they like the idea they might pick it up.

One of the first things I have been researching is how to present to Hollywood.  I believe using an agent might be helpful but even that seems like a massive challenge. To get them to do more than open the letter/Email requires a good Log Line.

So here are some attempts at Log Lines for Wall of Destruction. If you like one please comment and let me know. Or if you like none of them, same thing 🙂

A good Log Line is supposed to be one to two sentences – about 50 words. This should explain the movie enough to get them to request the script (or in my case, the book). It should show who is doing what and why we should care.

Some examples of famous movie Log Lines are:

• A Parisian rat teams up with a man with no talent to battle convention and the critics that anyone can cook and open their own restaurant.
• A lawyer who loses his ability to lie for 24-hours, clashes with his ex-wife for the affection of their son and the healing of their family.
• A young farmer from a distant planet joins the rebellion to save his home planet from the evil empire when he discovers he is a warrior with legendary psychokinesis powers.

So here are mine:

1. During the demise of Atlantis, one Atlantean officer strives to save his people.
2. When the world he knew was destroyed; Risor, a military officer from Atlantis led his people in their fight for survival.
3. The war between Atlantis and Rama ends in a flurry of city destroying attacks, culminating in Rama unleashing a most destructive force. Risor, an Atlantean military officer, struggles to lead the survivors to a new life.
4. The war between Atlantis and Rama ends with the destruction of both these great civilizations. In a world where very little remains of the once high civilizations, a military officer struggles to lead his people to find a new home.
5. After the floods, the survivors of a colony of Atlantis struggle to survive and rebuild. Turned on by neighbors, who no longer fear them. By the enemy, that destroyed them, they learn their biggest enemy to fear, is their homeland.
6. In times of legend, a war between civilizations ravaged the world. The survivors of one colony struggle to rebuild in this new hostile world without the benefit of their technology.
7. The war between Atlantis and Rama culiminates in the destruction of both empires and changes the face of the earth forever. The survivors of one remote Atlantean colony fight to survive and rebuild away from the remenants of their empire.
8. The survivors of an Atlantean colony fight to survive in a war ravaged world. When they decide to be free of Atlantis, their struggles become deadly.
9. The war didn’t kill him, nor did the flood that destroyed his city, kill him. Will fleeing, with the survivors of his colony, away from his former comrades kill him?
10.  The destruction of his city and empire forces one military officer to lead the survivors of his city to a new life. Away from the surviving enemies, both foreign and domestic.
11.  A military officer survives the destruction of his empire and city, leads the remnants of his people to a new life far away from the political enemies in the empire.
12.  With their city destroyed, the survivors break their bonds to Atlantis and forge a new path.  Reluctantly, the surviving leadership of Atlantis will not let them go easily.
13.  With the Atlantean empire in ruins, their colonies destroyed, the survivors break their bonds and forge a new path. Reluctantly, the surviving leadership of Atlantis will not let them go easily.
